VinFast Inaugurates Its First EV Manufacturing Facility Outside Vietnam in Tamil Nadu

VinFast has inaugurated its first electric vehicle manufacturing facility outside Vietnam in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone for Artelia Consulting Engineers Limited (ACE), India, and Artelia, Vietnam. The facility was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Developed within a record timeframe of 15 months, the facility spans 400 acres in the SIPCOT Industrial Estate, Tuticorin. The plant will initially manufacture the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUV models, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.

The project was initiated under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2024, with a Phase 1 investment of approximately ₹4,000 crore (US $500 million), forming part of a broader US $2 billion investment plan. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate 3,000–3,500 direct jobs and around 10,000 indirect jobs, contributing significantly to the regional economy.

The project highlights the strength of collaboration within the Artelia Group, bringing together teams from India and Vietnam. The successful delivery and recognition of Artelia’s contribution reinforce a strong foundation for continued partnership as the project progresses into its next phase.
